Better Business BureauMost people are completely shocked that I would write a bad review of the Better Business Bureau. Most think the BBB is more honest than the president of the United States. (Laugh) In my opinion, the Better Business Bureau is not much better than the "Bad Guys" they say they claim to go after. When I think of the Better Business Bureau I often think back to the days when the mafia went into small mom and pop businesses and told the scared owners that bad things might start happening if they didn't pay. That's what I felt the rep that called me the first time was telling me. I couldn't believe these guys were actually telling me this. Since I was a kid, I had heard of the better business bureau and since I was a kid I felt like these were people you could trust. This was an organization we could all trust. These guys would help prevent us from getting scammed or conned. But, now it's twenty five years later, I'm a grown man with a rock solid business, and I wonder how it happens that we are all brain-washed to think good things of the better business bureau since we were kids. The truth is that the BBB requests more than just basic info from companies like mine. I'm really quite sure the BBB wants much more than basic info. After talking to several representatives from the Better Business Bureau, I know exactly what they care about. After talking to the BBB several times over the past ten years, they seem to care the most about the $350.00 they require you to send them. And if you don't send them the money, they might not have good things to say about you. When I was a kid, I thought the Better Business Bureau was a non-profit, government agency that was like a nice friendly watch dog that looked out for people. The Better Business Bureau is not a government form of authority. In fact the Better Business Bureau has no authority other than the fact that they can pick up the phone and call the authorities just like you, me, or anybody else. Most people don't realize that the Better Business Bureau is a company (trying to make a profit. Oh, yeah! They love money!) I think the BBB likes to have the public believe they are a non profit, government agency. I think they know that most people just assume this is a fact. But they are in fact a business that exists to make a profit just like Double Payment Systems. The Better business bureau sends all business owners what I believe is a rather intimidating letter telling us that if we don't purchase a membership for about $350.00, then they might not have anything good to say about us if a person should ask them. When I received their letter and read it for the first time, I felt like I was being black-mailed. Yah, it felt like a civil form of extortion. I'm not alone in my belief. Most of the internet businesses I talk to agree with me on this one. The Better Business Bureau repeatedly calls me and sends me letters still to this day. They have a whole staff of telemarketers and people that send out their junk mail or bulk mail (call it what you want.) At the risk of losing customers, I choose to let my own communications with my customers speak for themselves, as proof that I am a man of my word and that I deliver exactly what I promise. I am prompt, courteous, and professional. I have been answering my business phone for the past 9 1/2 years. A person can easily reach me at that number even to this day. If you ever do happen to get my voice mail, I do return all calls within an hour. The simplest way to confirm my good reputation is to CLICK HERE. I began boycotting the Better Business Bureau 9 1/2 years ago and my opinion of them has not changed. In fact, I now see other websites and businesses that are boycotting the BBB and that puts a smile on my face. Obviously, I don't recommend using the Better Business Bureau.
