Terry Dean

I purchased the online course called “Net Breakthroughs” by Terry Dean and it was some of the best quality material I’ve read in a long time. I especially liked his online diary that takes you through the exact details of a years worth of advertising.

The diary tells you where he placed the ad, how much the ad cost him, what his copy looked like for that ad, and finally what kind of response rate he received from the campaign. So he’s basically reviewing several popular advertising sources on the net and doing the testing for you.

This type of detailed review could save a new marketer literally thousands of dollars because the Diary of Terry Dean allows you to avoid wasting the money that he did on worthless ezines, lead source websites, mailing lists, banner swaps, and countless other ad sources.

I did have one problem with the material Terry Dean provided. At the time of my reading his Net Breakthroughs course, it looked like it was about 2 year old. 2 years on the internet is like 10 years in the offline world. So while his advertising diary was an amazing concept and a genius idea, it’s almost useless to me if it’s 2 years old like I think it is. Part of the reason I’m convinced it was 2 years old is because he kept referring to overture.com as goto.com and I know that goto became overture over 2 years ago.

Even though that particular course of his appears old and outdated, I still give Terry a thumbs up for his unique style and ability to teach. I think Terry Dean is a marketer we could all learn from. Especially if he’d update some of his material.
